The first annual Hollydaze in 2008 was a success. This year, we
have worked hard on the most popular events to bring to the community.
On Friday, December 4, the City of Covington will turn on the lights at the Community Tree Lighting Event arranged by the Kiwanis Club of
Covington. The Chamber of Commerce will be handing out bags
with local business coupons as supplies last! And, of course, there
will be hot coffee and cocoa to keep you warm.
Saturday, December 5, kicks off with the Santa Breakfast with FREE
photos with Santa. 100% of donation proceeds go to local area food
banks, so donations are encouraged! The craft fair has turned into
the Holiday Bazaar and moved to MultiCare Covington Clinic from
9 a.m.-4 p.m. So far, over 30 vendors are coming to sell their crafts
and goods as great holiday presents. The Fruitcake Hurl is back at
the Home Depot Lot with two categories – kids and adults! Prizes
are awarded to first, second and third place hurlers in each category.
Participate and get a t-shirt that says “I hurled a fruitcake at Covington
Hollydaze 2009 (while supplies last).
Joining the Kiwanis Club in helping coordinate Hollydaze are:
Covington Chamber of Commerce, City of Covington, Rotary Club
of Covington, Lions Club of Covington, East Hill Grange. The Kiwanis
Club is deeply grateful for all the event sponsors, specifically the major sponsors: Kohl’s, City of Covington, Cbays Promotional Products,
MultiCare Covington Clinic, American Family Insurance and
ERA Real Estate.
The Covington Community Holiday Tree will be brightly lit
throughout the holidays in the Don Henning Roundabout just
east of Fred Meyer. The Kiwanis Club wishes the citizens of
Covington a happy and joyful holiday season and asks that you
remember those families who are struggling a bit through the
holiday season by donating food items or cash contributions
that benefit local area food banks and Toys for Joy.
